I've been thinking for a long time about what role music plays in human life and how I can use it to make a small but meaningful positive contribution to my community. This short statement is the latest result of this ongoing process.

AS A BANDLEADER
Habits of the Hero (2024)
I believe we all have the power to change the world (in however small a way at first) from exactly where we stand. How we show up to the challenges of the day, to small decisions and seemingly insignificant interactions, can ultimately tilt the axis of the Earth. The great stories of brave heroes and epic struggles serve as inspiration for each of us to be courageous and compassionate wherever and however we're able. This suite for quintet explores that possibility.

The album also features snippets of a voice recording I made of a conversation between myself and one of my best friends when we were 18, discussing the pitfalls and virtues of trying to live a life in service of others. It was a delight to rediscover this treasure a decade later and incorporate it into the record.

Home in Space (2023)
My first album as a bandleader was a trio project featuring songs about my home and youth in Naarm/Melbourne, wandering local waterways, climbing onto share house roofs, and exploring labyrinthine laneways. The title track frames these local recollections with a greater sense of our collective home as a species––our place in the universe, and the binding of our materiality within the immaterial.
