What we talk about when we talk about music (2025)

In 2025 I completed a PhD on the role of descriptive metaphors in making sense of the musical experience (think of how music can be "fluid", "light", "aggressive", "ponderous" etc.). I analysed how this common but often unacknowledged linguistic phenomenon likely points to a deeper cross-modal function of the mind, and investigated ways to harness it in improvisation practice.

Creative manifesto (2025)

I've been thinking for a long time about what role music plays in human life and how I can use it to make a small but meaningful positive contribution to my community. This short statement is the latest result of this ongoing process.
